Are you a young adult living with mental illness?

You are not alone: we are here for you.

We believe in managing mental health better TOGETHER.

We believe the loneliness and pain you may be feeling can be eased through solidarity and empowerment.

With your help, we intend to build a support network that will enable you and your allies to find practical help and treatment when and where you need it – especially as you transition to independence after turning 18.  We envision a world where you encounter the empathy and respect you deserve in your communities, and have access to affordable providers, education and impactful solutions.

75% of lifetime mental illness begins by age 25,
but where is the investment in resources for young people coping with mental health symptoms?
Increased visibility, better information, improved access to treatment, and, above all, the growth of a more caring and less judgmental mindset in our communities and institutions are all critical needs for saving lives.

The Tommy Cable BrightLove Project aims to:

  • Build a peer-driven mental health solidarity and support network for young adults to engage and share resources and solutions in a safe space.
Your story matters! Sharing even little things that have helped you can help others experiencing similar challenges.
  • Embrace the extraordinary power of simple kindness, compassion and hope.
You really are not alone. Together, we can help lift each other up.
  • Challenge the deep-rooted social and institutional stigma that persists around mental illness.
Let’s finally normalize conversations about psychiatric health, and turn increased awareness into real systemic and social support.
  • Empower individuals with knowledge to find the help they need or help their friends and loved ones access support.
Education is the key to unlocking available resources for more positive mental health outcomes!
  • Advocate for more effective psychiatric treatment, medication management, and mental health support systems across our communities and institutions.
We urgently need to persuade lawmakers to address the critical shortage of psychiatric providers and affordable treatment programs that is costing lives and getting worse.
  • Lean in on puppy love!
We will promote bringing therapy dogs and ESAs into our colleges and communities to provide their special brand of comfort and unconditional support.
